In preparation of Valentines Day...an article of the love of a community.
This article came out today February 12. There are so many people who have been a major part of this project. Its hard to start naming because there will be someone forgotten. One person we don't want to forget Marianne's niece Megan. She has had a major part of this project from starting this blog to continuously being Marianne and Larry's voice in the project. Larry's daughter CJ also was a contributing factor to this project by bringing Home Depot on board. George with Home Depot has gone above and beyond. Jan Black at Neuroworx also was a main player, she brought Heart 2 Home on board and also has managed some of the finances. Heart 2 Home has an entire team who have given so much: Christina, Sean, Greg, Justin, Casey, and many others. Thank you.

Still trudging along....its getting there
What an emotional journey for everyone involved. The fabulous volunteers and donors have worked tirelessly and even though progress has been slower than anyone anticipated, its getting there. Flooring is going in or being repaired throughout the entire house. Painters are almost done. Its beginning to be the dream we all envisioned. It is amazing to see how many great people there are who give up so much to help.

Bumps in the Road
Due to some unforeseen obstacles, the project has been a bit delayed. Adding a new bathroom and redoing the old bathroom has turned out to be a major task. The plumber discovered all the pipes were corroded and so he has been working non stop to fix it all in a 24" crawl space!
Another set back was when they were getting ready to tile they discovered there was not enough structural support, so that has to be taken care of first. While there has been some bumps along the road and it is taking longer than anticipated, we feel it a blessing that these things were discovered and they are getting taken care off.
Onto more exciting things! We have kitchen cabinets in! They are custom designed and donated! A big thanks to Brandon Wall for designing and building them and Jenson Lumber who donated the wood.
Paint is starting tomorrow, then a lot of the cosmetic things will follow. The new plan is to have the reveal on Monday, February 13th. (That is if things move forward without a hitch.)
We again can not thank all of these people enough. Most volunteers are strangers to Marianne and Larry, and have given so much to this project. In a world of much hate, and chaos; there is still so much love and kindness.

Progress
We are well into the remodel for Larry and Marianne. We want to give a huge thanks to the MANY great volunteers so far. Some of them include; Home Depot employees, Heart 2 Home volunteers, good friends and neighbors, Electricians Kevin Guy from AC Electric, Brian Kerr from Highmark Electric, IBEW local 354 electricians(union), and Tom Barnett. Matt Perron our hero plumber, and an awesome framing crew. We are overwhelmed by the amount of support given from these amazing volunteers. Most have spent 12-15 hours a day working nonstop.

Some things are worth the wait
We are so excited to announce the AMAZING support of Team Home Depot. In December we started meeting with reps from Home Depot to discuss the project. After several meetings it was apparent that this project fit in well with the mission and values of Home Depot. So earlier this month they approved a sponsorship.
Home Depot is a proud sponsor of Veterans. Larry served as a member of the Brass Band during the Vietnam War. Like so many he sacrificed to preserve the immense freedoms we enjoy today. He was proud of his service even during a time of great political upheaval.
Thank you Larry for your service to this great nation. Thank you Team Home Depot for giving back to those who deserve so much of our respect!
